I recall a recent conversation with a friend talking about
my renewed focus on my art. I talked
about reading the book from Kelly Rae Roberts, Flying Lessons, and relating to the section she
wrote on telling people you are an artist, and how that can be a very difficult
step to make. I told her that this hit
home for me. She quickly responded with “Because
you don’t want people to think you are lazy”.
That certainly took me by
surprise (hopefully it did not show too much).
I had not even considered that connection. I have always admired artists and their
passion, never thought of them as lazy.
Her connection to being an artist does align with the thoughts of Mr.
Einstein, but not as he intended.
This week I worked on a new class for July, Jacobs
Ladder. This first trial even had my
darling husband amazed at how it worked AND how I made it! It is so fun to see the puzzlement when they
see it ‘flip’. Next size trial will be a
4x6 format so they can fit their pictures in more readily. Can’t wait to teach the class and see
everyone’s "little magic trick". It sure
will make a very fun and special photo/memory book!
I am also working on a special bridal shower card for my future niece. It is coming along quite nicely, complete with acetate, glitter (of course) and photo paper. I don’t do many cards, but I could not resist for Clarissa, a fellow kindred spirit of the paper arts. I will have to hold off showing you the card until I have mailed them… so stay tuned.
Artist or not, it is important for us to ‘waste a little
time’ and let a bit of that creativity show.
